We always figured her to
be a meat and potatoes kind of gal, but Oprah loves animals so much that she’s
decided to go vegan.

The meat and dairy industries are probably shaking in their animal-bloodied boots: Talk show queen generally beloved celebrity Oprah Winfrey is going vegan. And what Oprah does, so does an alarming number of her fans.
But maybe meat and dairy purveyors needn't worry too much. Winfrey new lifestyle will reportedly last just 21 days. The media mogul is turning to veganism for three weeks in an effort to detox her body. She hopes to raise the profile of veganism in public awareness.
"How can you say you’re trying to spiritually evolve without even a thought about what happens to the animal’s whose lives are sacrificed in the name of gluttony?" she said in a blog.
Oprah and three friends from her production company Harpo began the plan, inspired
by Kathy Freston's book "Quantum
Wellness", on Sunday and she's documenting the experience every step of
the way, reports ET Online.
"Wow, wow, wow! I never imagined meatless meals could be so satisfying."
she writes. "I had been focused on what I had to give up --- sugar, gluten,
alcohol, meat, chicken, fish, eggs, cheese. 'What's left?' I thought. Apparently
a lot. I can honestly say every meal was a surprise and a delight, beginning
with breakfast --- strawberry rhubarb wheat-free crepes."
Oprah is following a menu created by Freston's chef Tal Ronnen. It feature items like a tofu scramble; steel-cut oatmeal with raisins, and artichoke and oyster mushroom Rockefeller.
