While filming the music video in Los Angeles for Gospel artist Ami Rushes’ “Oh Lord, Stand By Me” ... film director Darryl D.Lassiter dusted off his trumpet and played on the Kurt Carr produced single.
“It felt good just having my original baby with me,” says Lassiter. “I began playing trumpet at 11 years-old and I don’t think I will never stop.”
Lassiter produced and directed the video for Ami – his fifth with her and his 65th video overall. The song, originally written and recorded by the Rev. James Cleveland, struck a nerve with Rushes as she recorded an entire album of Gospel classics. “Stand By Me” was produced by Kurt Carr – ex keyboardist from Cleveland. The music video can be seen around the national on various video programs, YouTube and GodTube.
Lassiter has worked with many artists, in his 65 music videos portfolio, which included Shirley Caesar, Vickie Winans, Dottie People, and The Christianaires.
His projects also include Jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B and Classic Rock artists. Ami Rushes’ latest CD is titled “Lifting” and spawned the hit single “I Can Go To God In Prayer,” which she dedicated to Albertina Walker. Thirty percent of the proceeds from the sales will benefit The Save Africa’s Children Foundation.
Darryl recently produced a 30-minute national television special for Ami Rushes which featured her concert performances and tributes to Al “The Bishop” Hobbs (GMWA), Kurt Carr (producer of the album), and Rodena Preston (GMWA).
